Curse of the Golden Flower
this movie shows the most dysfunctional family ever. it has some beautiful fight scenes as well as the clothes for those not into the dynamics of chinese culture this might be a bit much also this is not something for someone who has never seen an oriental movie before as they will not understand much about how chinese royalty works I am happy to own this movie as anytime i feel my family is screwed up i can watch it and realize mine will never get tho the subtle intrigue that this one has been playing on itself for what must be about six to twenty years.
If you are expecting something that is a line of fights and battles and action this is not for you. this moive is about a dysfunctional royal family

Beautiful
I know I did expect more when I saw the cover, but I think it's not always about the plot. I must say that I liked the visual parts of this film, though the story was a bit unclear to me. I was sort of annoyed about the way the movie ended. But all in all I am a huge fan of Chinese movies! I think one needs to watch the movie a few times before one gets the clear picture of it all. At least I've come to realize that you find the core of Chinese films after you have watched them few times.
I personally think not everything needs to be just action and typical "Hollywood junk"! Chinese movies can find a way to capture ones interest too!

Boring
This one caught my attention when I read the description from the dvd's back cover. It said "The best kung-fu choreography seen so far" so I expected atleast something like seen in Fearless.
Curse of the Golden Flower tells a story of a chinese Royal family. There are complications between the family members and the plot is based on those. Whole idea just doesn't work. The movie is really boring and the few action scenes which last only for few seconds don't save anything. If I must find one good thing about this movie it would be the accessories and clothing. No wonder this was nominated for an Oscar in category of Best Achievement in Costume Design.
All in all Curse of the Golden Flower is a movie that lacks everything worth watching it. It feels like this is another failed attempt to get an Oscar with focusing only one aspect and forgetting everything else. I for some strange reason happened to watch this dubbed in english which was record low. Gave me a few good laughs at first and I thought I was watching a comedy. Even if I had watched this in chinese it wouldn't have changed anything.
