Drive is a gritty little throwback to crime films of the 70’s and 80’s. Even the soundtrack, while featuring modern songs, sounds like it belongs in the best episode ever of Miami Vice. This is not a bad thing. Its also a gorgeous film, shot in retro reds and blues to match the backdrop of neon lights prevalent throughout. Ryan Gosling plays a stuntman who has a side gig as a getaway driver. When his neighbor’s husband inadvertently gets him targeted by some big shot gangsters, our hero turns the table around and becomes the hunter in a most savage fashion. Great stuff.
