The Book of Eli
Pretty much your typical post apocalyptic wandering loner story line. The bible plays a significant character in the film without getting too preachy--used more optimistically. Denzel and Gary Oldman make the film special. The girl from That 70's show and Jennifer Beals support the film well enough.

It was over 2 hours and I don't usually like 2+ hour films. I find them to lose steam. I actually like this film far more than I had anticipated. It was quick with the action and slow with the conversation. It worked. The location was so desolate that it was amazing what frame could make beautiful....there were a lot of amazing shots. The fight that the trailer shows the beginning of with Eli stating he won't get that hand back...was perfectly shot. The acting was great. Mr. Washington is great. I love how the "villain" gets his in the end....unusual penitence.
