Dating coach Alex 'Hitch' Hitchens mentors a bumbling client, Albert, who hopes to win the heart of the glamorous Allegra Cole. While Albert makes progress, Hitch faces his own romantic setbacks when proven techniques fail to work on Sara Melas, a tabloid reporter digging for dirt on Allegra Cole's love life. When Sara discovers Hitch's connection to Albert – now Allegra's boyfriend – it threatens to destroy both relationships.
Talk About a Date Doctor...
Hitch is one of my favorite movies. I've seen it 3 or 4 times at the moment, and I think it is still getting better as time goes by. Kinda like good wine, I suppose...?
Alex "Hitch" Hitchens is the guy to talk to when you want a word of advice with the ladies. Having well earned his title as "the date doctor", he knows exactly what to do, what to say, and how to time it, when it comes to making great first impressions and how Not to mess it up with a girl.
Albert Brennaman, on the other hand, is not exactly "the man" with women. Hopelessly clumsy, shy and not a big fan of the treadmill, he works as a financial consultant for Allegra Cole - a wealthy young woman with a full celebrity status. Now that's not too bad of a job description at all - not, unless you have the biggest crush on your employer. However, Albert, lucky for him, has heard of Hitch, and calls him for help. Touched by Albert's sincerity, Hitch begins his work with him and does his thing. Meanwhile, on his other hand, he also juggles a prospective relationship with Sarah Melas, who fends off guys with an equal amount of confidence. And as things advance, Hitch finds himself in a situation where something he calls his basic principles, don't apply anymore.
Now, I'm not going to go "this movie is SOOOO true", like someone might. I'll tell you it's brilliant, though, because it is certainly nothing short of fabulous. Talented actors playing roles that suit them well, performing in a very impressive manner along a clever storyline with parts that make you laugh, and ones that make you just sit quiet. The atmosphere is great. What I am going to say, is that every guy - and every girl, which makes that everyone, I guess - should see this movie. In spite of being a Hollywood film with rounded edges and a fairly rosy view on things, this movie definitely has little pieces of truth and some facts if you know where to look, well worth a couple of books on dating. Being one of the main reasons most guys probably feel like "Been there, done that", or "That is SO true" at some point while watching Hitch, it works with women as well. Hitch himself sums it up pretty well with something he says, quote: "I'm a guy. Since when do we get anything right the first time?" Now don't all of you girls see what I'm talking about?
All this, and that something, is what makes Hitch one of the few movies I'll happily rate 10/10. Don't believe it? See for yourself.
