Oldskool horror... didn't impress me.
Not the worst horror film I've seen, but not even close to the best one either.
"The Thing" tells a story about a group of researchers stationed at the Antarctica when something goes awfully wrong.
Generally I do like films with the element of having a closed group of characters and making it known to the viewer and the characters themselves that one of them is "the bad guy". It's interesting to see how distrust grows and how well the people are portrayed in a really psychologically challenging environment. Sadly this element was left just a little bit too much on the sidelines, when the focus was on terrible special effects straight from the 80ies.
Not a total waste of time - but not far from it either.
