I heard this described as a tier two Soderbergh flick and I'd agree with that. Lot of great characters and a good setup, but it lacks the precision of intersecting stories like his greatest pieces feature. It's just not as clean as it should be, and even though it's near two hours, some of it just felt rushed.
There's also some social commentary woven in and while some of it is done well, some of it also felt forced, especially near the end when a rich tycoon type played by Matt Damon delivers a monologue that wants to be great, but isn't.
Still, fans of a good noir yarn will appreciate this.
