Let's throw one thing out there first: you should know that a Mortal Kombat movie is not to be taken too seriously. I think they could make a really good MK flick if they made it less Big Trouble in Little China and more The Dark Knight, but we knew from the first trailer they weren't going that route here. That said, Big Trouble in Little China is a great movie.
Now this iteration is not on the level of that classic either, but it's in that arena. It's a goofy, campy, action flick that is more about the fights than anything else. Even with those they don't knock it out of the park but there is a decent enough job done that kept me entertained for the film's length.
My biggest gripe is all the good guys are a bunch of dorks and there really is no bad ass among them outside of Hiroyuki Sanada playing Scorpion. Hopefully they get a little more even if we get a sequel. All that aside, whether you think you will like Mortal Kombat or not, you are probably right.
