They Come Knocking does what a lot of horror flicks are unable to: It makes you actually care about the characters. A widower played by Clayne Crawford and his two daughters venture out into the desert to spread his wife's ashes where he proposed to her. Once there though, they realize they are not alone.
As stated, Crawford along with Josephine Langford and Lia McHugh playing his daughters do a great job at conveying the emotional toll the loss of the mom has wreaked on the family. Kudos to that. But the rest of They Come Knocking is cookie cutter cliche BS that doesn't even make a ton of sense when the curtains close.
