Review from the comment
Haunt has a very similar premise to Hell Fest, which I just wrote on last week. Some eye candy end up at a Halloween haunted house only instead of the big fright fest seen in Hell Fest, these kids end up somewhere in the sticks where the venue is more House of 1000 Corpses then your big city radio station's bonanza.
To that end, Haunt starts out pretty good. The setup doesn't take long, the side story of the main heroine Harper (Katie Stevens) fleeing an abusive boyfriend is mercifully not overdone, and the creepies at the shindig look awesome. But there is a point in the middle of Haunt where everything sharp gets thrown out the window and it becomes a fast barrage of horror movie tropes that is ran so quickly one can't help if they were counting the minutes of film against the budget. The final scene is completely ridiculous and unnecessary that it almost removes the interesting and well crafted setup we watched just a bit before. Its a shame, because for a minute we really felt like this could be something worth talking about. Instead its only worth mentioning to die hard fans of the genre. Or people who don't mind dumb movies. Those too.
