Crawl is one of those movies where you keep asking yourself "Can that really happen?" Or, "Wouldn't that not work there?" The whole time you just have to keep relinquishing doses of reality and I guess in a film about a father and daughter stuck in a flooded house with a shitload of alligators during a hurricane, you aren't supposed to take it that serious.
But goddammit, I do. I think like viewers need to feel like if there ever was a hurricane and they were stuck with their daughter in a flooded house with a shitload of alligators, then what transpires on screen is legitimately an option at how to survive. Or maybe I just overthink creature features like this too much. Wait, no, I don't. Write better you lazy hacks.
The good side of Crawl is that the effects look outstanding. The gators appeared vicious and damned if I didn't wonder several times if they filmed this during a real hurricane.
