When a body is found in pristine condition with no signs of foul play half buried in the basement of a site of a brutal murder scene, father and son coroner pair Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch must figure out what the hell is going on. Thus is the premise for the Autopsy of Jane Doe, and its a good one. The first 45 minutes or so pretty much focus on this aspect and its not until after that where we start getting out of CSI territory and more into standard supernatural type fare. Director André Øvredal is really good at the former and not so bad at the latter even if there is some sloppiness here and there in the last third. Cox is wonderful as always and Hirsch does a pretty good nice guy son, which is a little different than anything I have seen him in. Check this out if you dig horror. Its a great find that flew under a lot of radars.
