Remake Of A Masterpiece
Secret in their Eyes is a remake of the 2009 Argentinian thriller El secreto de sus ojos. That, is a damn near perfect film. It's in my Top 20 of all times and for good reason. The performances and script are second to none. If you haven't seen it yet, I implore you to go and watch it now.
The American version was pretty much a given considering Hollywood loves to churn out recycled product. I immediately had my reservations and while this film is not horrendous, it simply pales in comparison to the original source material. I did like the cast chosen for this version, but it lacks so much of the emotional depth and pacing of its Argentinian original.
