During a shootout in a saloon, Sheriff Hunt injures a suspicious stranger. One of the villagers takes care of him in prison. One day they both disappear – only the spear of a cannibal tribe is found. Hunt and a few of his men go in search of the prisoner and his nurse.
Review from the comment
A search and rescue mission for a local woman takes a sheriff (Kurt Russell), his deputy (Richard Jenkins), the missing woman's husband (Patrick Wilson) and a gunslinger (Matthew Fox) on a suicide mission against a group of cannibalistic cave dwellers.
Bone Tomahawk is a vastly underrated film. The pacing is excellent and the cinematography is great. However, what makes this movie stand out is the writing. You get a feel for the true west and how they interacted with each other. First time director S. Craig Zahler really puts together an amazing piece.
One thing that should be noted, is that Bone Tomahawk does have a couple of scenes of intense violence. It's pretty in your face and if that kind of thing bothers you, you might want to turn away. Bone Tomahawk is too good to pass up for a couple of scenes that might be too much for you to digest.
