After a crowd control mission in Belfast quickly turns bad, a young British soldier must find his way to safety before being another casualty in the ongoing violence between Great Britain and Ireland. As he navigates the dangers, will any aid come? If it does, how will he know who is friend and who is foe?
Jack O'Connell continues his run of solid performances here as the young soldier, Gary Hook. It is pretty much a given that he is someone to watch. It seems he is going to be doing big things.
'71 is a taut thriller that delivers on all fronts. While it may not break ground on originality, it gives you style and substance. The last time I checked, that's not a bad thing at all.
