A fictionalized account of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life, in which the poet is in pursuit of a serial killer whose murders mirror those in the writer's stories.

Review from the comment
The Raven is a slightly above average suspense story of which the quality is heightened by a terrific performance from John Cusack. Cusack plays Edgar Allen Poe suffering through a state of mental anguish, tortured by writer’s block and nearing financial ruin. But when a serial killer begins recreating murder scenes from Poe’s most gruesome tales, local police look to the author for insight. The investigation rekindles Poe’s quizzical nature until his beloved fiancée is kidnapped by his tormentor. While obviously not historically accurate, Cusack still nails the gig as the disturbed novelist in this context and keeps The Raven from mere adequateness.
