Alex Cross, a genius homicide detective/psychologist is trying to clean up the mean streets of Detroit while keeping his family out of the line of fire. As he mulls over accepting a job with the FBI, he is told that a friend has been murdered and he vows to track down the killer. Soon, he and his team are forced to match wits with a psychotic contract killer, who displays a disturbing commitment towards seeing his job through.

I vividly remember hearing about this film when it was first announced. I also recall my dismay of Tyler Perry being cast in the titular role. Perry, quite simply is not Alex Cross. James Patterson's infamous super sleuth is a smooth operator. I just don't buy Perry in the role.
With that being said, I thought this was a serviceable enough film to watch on a Saturday morning. Why, you ask? I actually, liked Matthew Fox's character. He plays the criminal element in the film and Fox showed he can play a pretty twisted dude. If you happen to get a visit by someone like his character, it isn't going to be pleasant.
