Get it right. I hate the Oakland A’s. Always have, always will. But one is able to put personal bias aside when watching Moneyball as it is a classic underdog story. Brad Pitt is wonderful as A’s general manager Billy Beane who, along with Paul DePodesta (played by Jonah Hill and renamed Peter Brand for the movie), used a bizarre theory of player analysis to lead their team to the playoffs in 2002. Moneyball accurately captures the disappointment of a team who couldn’t seem to find a way to win and the electricity of the dugout when all of a sudden they did. A’s fan or not, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who can’t smile at a feel good story like this one.
