Pat Tillman never thought of himself as a hero. His choice to leave a multimillion-dollar football contract and join the military wasn't done for any reason other than he felt it was the right thing to do. The fact that the military manipulated his tragic death in the line of duty into a propaganda tool is unfathomable and thoroughly explored in Amir Bar-Lev's riveting and enraging documentary.

Review from the comment
When I first heard about Pat Tillman joining the military to fight the war on terror, I thought it was just some dumb jock who wanted to go kill some Arabs. When I first heard of him dying in combat, I thought it was a sad sacrifice amongst thousands where one of ours perished fighting the enemy. The truth behind Tillman’s death is common knowledge now, but I still had no idea how wrong I was on both of those aforementioned fronts. The Tillman Story is a fascinating look at a warrior rare in character and morality and the government who tried to make him a recruiting poster boy.
