Julia’s Eyes feels like a Hitchcock film. There is an intense classical score, clever cinematography, and an unlikely heroine. The story muddles along for a bit at the beginning but gets in gear later and finishes somewhat strong. It’s a little shaky still: a woman gets a premonition that her twin sister is in trouble and discovers that she has committed suicide. But was it really suicide? Our heroine investigates with reluctant help from her husband and along the way starts to develop a degenerative eye disease that will eventually blind her. As the disease progresses, she becomes unclear on what is truth and what is her paranoia which causes others to question her mindset The closer she gets to an answer, the more people lose trust in her judgment. Kudos to the director in utilizing some clever shots to reflect her gradually decreasing sight. The cinematography is easily the high point of the film.
