Quintanilla family was found dead in their country side house. Police reported the existence of 37 hours of recorded evidence. The family traveled to their old farm house, where they investigated about the Legend of the Girl in the Garraf woods. They used to record whatever they did. Atrocious shows the last five days of this family, and the strange situations that they lived in those moments and which remain unexplained.

Atrocious has a slow burn to it. Another entry in the found footage arena, it takes off painfully slow as an upper teen aged boy and his sister head off with their family to a summer house where the mother grew up. The two apparently document everything via video camera and let us know that they like to investigate urban legends which we are expected to sign off on. Implausibilities aside, we are introduced to the house and a creepy wooded labyrinth on the property along with a story of a girl who got lost in the labyrinth and now haunts it. The first two thirds of Atrocious are spent painstakingly guiding us through the forest as our heroes explore and ponder it with little result. The siblings just wander the forest and film, not even talking to each other very often. This is bad for character development and bogs down the story arc but it bounces back in a big way a little over midway through when the family dog goes missing. From that point out, Atrocious takes off and finishes with a brutal and intense final 25 minutes which almost redeem the rest of the movie.
