Review from the comment
This is one of my favorite animated films of all time. To be fair, I never read the book. However, I was so impressed by how realistic the animated character of Coraline was animated despite the clay-mation style and it was so unique and interesting that I was pretty much blown away. There's a segment in the film where Coraline is running through the house to do something and she trips over the rug and the rug's ruffled up a bit. Whoever thought to add little bits like that is a genius. Those are the parts who really make you feel like you're just watching into another world, a real person who just sees the world differently. I'd skip the 3d if I were you, though.
