Las Vegas showroom magician Cris Johnson has a secret which torments him: he can see a few minutes into the future. Sick of the examinations he underwent as a child and the interest of the government and medical establishment in his power, he lies low under an assumed name in Vegas, performing cheap tricks and living off small-time gambling "winnings." But when a terrorist group threatens to detonate a nuclear device in Los Angeles, government agent Callie Ferris must use all her wiles to capture Cris and convince him to help her stop the cataclysm.

Next
I hadn't heard too much about Next which is probably the best way to view a film. Although watchable, I thought the movie struggled at times to keep us guessing as to what was going to happen next (pardon the pun). New Zealand Director Lee Tamahori told the story well and there are some pretty cool effects. Jessica Biel was great to watch (mmmm) and apart from the ending which threw me right off track, was not a bad effort, even with the Nicolas Cage casting :-)

Next please!
I actually had some expectations for this movie because I'm a big fan of Nicolas Cage. But this film did not deliver.. not even close.
"Next" is a story about a Las Vegas magician, who actually can see a few moments into the future. Naturally they have to toss a nuclear bomb, russian terrorists and the FBI into the mix to get things going - but that ends up even further ruining the whole thing. Some scenes where the movie visualizes the ability to see the future are actually pretty neat, but that's where the good stuff ends. The plot is extremely half-baked and completely absurd from the very beginning when an agent is chasing Cage to force him to help the Bureau catch the terrorists. Background information on everything regarding the storyline is extremely scarce and it feels like you start watching the film 20 minutes after it really started. In addition to the lousy plot and the weak execution thereof, the dialogue is unbelievably amateurish. Every sentence the actors say sound like being read straight from a script written by a high school junior.
This movie was totally not worth my time.
