When 4 year old Amanda McCready disappears from her home and the police make little headway in solving the case, the girl's aunt, Beatrice McCready hires two private detectives, Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro. The detectives freely admit that they have little experience with this type of case, but the family wants them for two reasons—they're not cops and they know the tough neighborhood in which they all live.

A good drama with interesting twists!
I thought this was a good solid movie. The plot was interesting and took a good amount of intriguing turns towards the unexpected and even had a few small sidetracks that brought intensity to the storyline.
Good acting work especially from Ed Harris and Morgan Freeman. Casey Affleck wasn't overly convincing, but I guess he was too much of a baby face for the role, who knows. The story was balanced and kept at least my interest up - nothing spectacular, but a fine and well-executed movie.
The language was harsh at times and so was the depicted reality of the criminal world, but that got the message delivered.

Definitely worth watching
A good movie built on a solid story with no apparent gaps. This one will surprise you, more than once. It boils down to a common dilemma: does the cause justify the means? You just might end up in an argument after watching it. If you enjoy watching crime movies where the resolution is anything but expected, you wont go wrong with Gone Baby Gone.
On a negative note, I'd have to mention the choice of Casey Affleck as the at times hot headed private detective Patrick Kenzie. I couldn't help thinking that he was out of his league, he just wasn't very credible in my eyes. But hey, who can blame Ben for hooking a brother up :-).
