Rather boring and predictable
I thought this movie had a promising start, but after a while it seems same old clichés follow.. Someone being and old cop, a set up for crime and a best friend who's not so honest in the end. I really had expected something a lot better! And the ending was as flat as ever!

Cleaner
I've been rather critical in the past towards director Rennie Harlin's movies, but as it turns out Cleaner is an easy enjoyable watch. A decent story and the very good acting as usual from Samuel L. Jackson and Ed Harris makes the movie worthwhile.
Not the best thriller available, but one to take time out to watch.

A good piece of intrigue
"Cleaner" is a movie about an ex-cop (Jackson) who after his retirement ends up running a business of cleaning up crime scenes. One gig he does spins him back into a world of police corruption and wicked schemes. This cat and mouse story has it's share of twists and that kind of keeps the movie alive.
I'm a big fan of Samuel L. Jackson and I think Ed Harris always does a good job playing a cop so that side of the movie is taken well taken care of in my view. The story is quite simple regardless of the apparent ambition for building a plot with twists. I like the editing and the quiet scenes where a cleaner does his job.. The narration also builds up a nice atmosphere here and there.. The movie over all kinda takes you just half way there.. The potential is pretty high, but the execution somewhat underachieves..
A really hard choice between 6 and 7 stars. But I guess I'll have to make it a seven for Renny Harlin's the motherlands' sake.
