Review from the comment
Tycoon follows a shady kingpin, Platon Makovski in post-Communist Russia. The film is supposedly based on notorious Russian tycoon Boris Berezovsky. In all honesty, Tycoon was a little hard to follow at times. Moments of seriousness were trumped by some clumsy parts of comedy that didn't seem to work with the overall theme of the film. The movie spans some 15 years as Platon and his tightly knit crew grow from a small-time unit into a full fledged organization flowing with riches beyond their wildest dreams. As we all know though, living this life has its consequences and things take a turn into the wrong direction. Tycoon has it's moments, but the jagged direction and continuity make it just a little frustrating.
