Review from the comment
Clive Owen takes the lead here as a struggling writer who drops back into the gambling business working casino tables to make ends meet. Croupier plays like an old pulp detective novel with Owen shooting the dirt on his patrons and co-workers. When one of his regular customers (ER’s Alex Kingston) entices him into being party to a heist, Owen has to figure out just who is holding the cards here (pun intended). While it may lack a knockout punch of a twist needed in these types of movies, it’s a nice throwback to Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe type tales.
