Imprisoned in the 1940s for the double murder of his wife and her lover, upstanding banker Andy Dufresne begins a new life at the Shawshank prison, where he puts his accounting skills to work for an amoral warden. During his long stretch in prison, Dufresne comes to be admired by the other inmates -- including an older prisoner named Red -- for his integrity and unquenchable sense of hope.

A masterpiece
Shawshank redemption is a marvellous depiction of hope in the midst of adversity. Red (Freeman) and Andy (Robbins) are two men with different life experience who are sharing the same destiny of serving a life sentence in prison. The movie tells a beautiful story about finding hope and strength to carry on regardless of the circumstance. The film has a great plot, masterful acting and a powerful message. Nearly a perfect combination.. A true classic.
