Four men from different parts of the globe, all hiding from their pasts in the same remote South American town, agree to risk their lives transporting several cases of dynamite (which is so old that it is dripping unstable nitroglycerin) across dangerous jungle terrain.

I'm a sucker for the movies from the 70's. That gritty, hard boiled feeling that is so apparent through the decade in films like Dirty Harry and The Conversation is on full display here. Scheider plays one of four men who end up on the lam in Colombia for different reasons. Their various situations push the four to take on a suicide mission of driving a load of deadly nitroglycerin across treacherous terrain. Friedkin does a wonderful job at minimalizing dialogue and creating all the tension through action and atmosphere. Great stuff here that you don't see often anymore.
