This movie takes a closer look at Vito Corleones life in the 1910s and gives us a part 2 of Michael growing into his fathers role in the 1950s. We discover on both sides of the story what it really takes and cost to be the head of the family.
Alongside our protagonists, we explore what connects a man so strongly to his family and why he is willing to do anything to protect and extend it.
When i think about the Godfather movies, i think of the quote "It's nothing personal, Jack. It's just good business" from pirates of the caribbean 3. And "normaly" this should be the case. But in the Corleone family business is personal. Business and Family happens both under the same roof. I think through Michael Corleones perspective we get to see how hard it is to base a decision on that. We see how the concept slowly begins to age and fade.
A world different from the one we know. A story that compares to no other. At its core, characters that we might understand, might despise. Our head always aware of the danger that the person close to you is only one betrayal away from being your worst enemy.
This are some components of the suspenseful and exciting masterpiece that is "Godfather 2". And on top of that, actors who can perfectly play multi-layered and deep characters.
Its about the origins of an empire, personal sacrifices, family connections and last but not least the truth.
