A family, is coping with the loss of their son / brother who died overseas. They get an unexpected visit from a friend who served with him. At first, he seems to be a welcome addition. But soon, things start to get a little strange. Is David, really the person he says he is?
The Guest is an interesting film. It's a pretty sleek thriller, that is shot in the way a horror film would be done. This makes a lot of sense since Director Adam Winegard and Writer Simon Barrett have had plenty of visits to the genre. Add Maika Monroe to the mix (She's also been in a few Horror flicks herself) and you can see the influence. While not perfect, there are some moments that I found truly dumb, it is worthy of all the buzz it received. This is about as far as Dan Stevens can get away from Downton Abbey, and that's not throwing shade.
