Review from the comment
James Franco plays a scientist looking to cure Alzheimer’s in this retelling of the Planet of the Apes. While testing chimps, he comes across a cure that ultimately leads to a huge intelligence boost in a chimp that he had taken home. It’s a clever origin story to the well tried Apes saga, if somewhat predictable. There is a lot of underlying commentary on man’s desire to live forever and the consequences created from that. This commentary treads closely to becoming annoying but in the end doesn’t tip the boat too much. It will be interesting to see where the series goes from here.
